Motorcycle tours

Travelling by motorcycle, for many people, is one of life's pleasures, if not dreams. Rolling off - or on - a ferry with a tent knowing that you have everything that you need for a trip packed on the back of the bike is hugely satisfying. In the last 10 years or so the motorcycle media and manufacturers have caught up and promoted adventure motorcycling - usually long distance trips across continents and including off-road riding, sometimes solo (as in Ted Simon) or sometimes in groups (Globebusters). Commercial exploitation of this pastime includes special bikes, of course, but also special clothes and accessories. But the relatively short travels that most of us can take that are nearly all done on tarmac are not short of delights and challenges. Here are accounts of the trips I've taken since I started riding.
